Mission Statement
To gather good quality gently used furniture and provide free of charge it to those in need as certified and referred to us by our Collaborating Partner Agencies. Furniture For Families, along with Dallas Furniture Bank, The Furniture Bank of Houston, and Baytown Furniture Bank are the only Furniture Bank of North America affiliated furniture banks in Texas.
History
Furniture for Families Inc. is a non-profit charitable corporation that was the "brain child" of Ronnie and Sandra Skinner who own and operate the Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Furniture Zone and Sleep Shop. Sandra was introduced to the retail furniture industry at a very early age by her parents Eddie and Marilyn Vale who first opened Furniture Factory Outlet on Business Highway 190 in 1964. Ronnie & Sandra are also supporters of several other community charities in addition to this recent 2010 effort.
Purpose
FFF collects good quality used furniture and provides it to those who need it. Working families, battered women and children in retreat, veterans in distress and victims of natural disasters who manage to find affordable housing are often faced with a harsh reality. Their home is empty - without beds for the children, a chest for their clothes, a table to eat on, or even a couch on which they can sit down together. After basic expenses such as rent, utilities and food are paid, there's little left for the common household furnishings we all take for granted. Furniture For Families along with our Collaborating Partner Agencies attempt to help fill this need.
Who we Serve
Furniture is a critical stepping stone to improve living conditions and elevate an individual's personal pride and dignity. To thrive, humans require simple creature comforts. We help to ease some stress in this area by providing previously enjoyed bedroom, living room, and dining room furniture along with limited kitchen, and décor items TO THOSE IN NEED as referred by our CPAs.
