Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who receives assistance from Furniture for Families?

A: Families and individuals referred by our registered Collaborating Partner Agencies. From this network of charitable agencies, needy individuals and families that are living at the extreme poverty level are referred to FFF with a variety of issues; physical and mental disabilities, senior citizens with little or no income, victims of domestic violence, single women with children, people recovering from chemical dependency, veterans, refugees, individuals suffering from AIDS, and natural disaster victims.

Q: What is a Collaborating Partner Agency (CPA)?

A: A Collaborating Partner Agency is a non-profit community service organization, church, or civic club that regularly comes into contact with and recommends families and individuals who are in need of furniture items to Furniture For Families. These agencies sign an annual contract and pay a nominal $100 fee which enables them to qualify and refer an unlimited number of clients for FFF services. See our CPA Roster with contact information under the Contact Us tab.

Q: Do you pick-up and deliver furniture?

A: We pick-up and deliver furniture on a limited basis and time schedule in the area served by the Killeen Ashley Furniture HomeStore. If adequate transportation is available, personal drop-off and pick-up times can be scheduled by contacting our Executive Director.

Q: What kind of donation do you accept?

A: Furniture for Families accepts home furniture and furnishings in usable and gently used condition. Furniture that is torn, soiled, or in need of major repair/upholstery is NOT accepted. For more details, see the To Donate or Volunteer tab.

Q: Is the furniture new or used?

A: Most all of our donations are gently used.

Q: What furniture can a family expect to receive when they apply?

A: FFF's goal is to provide basic pieces to help get families started in their new homes and to provide basic comforts. Our primary focus is to help families receive something to eat on, sleep on and sit on. Member CPA agencies are responsible for pre-screening their clients and assessing their needs; then they make a referral to us for most needed items.

Q: What time-frame should you anticipate for pick-up and delivery services?

A: Since Ashley Furniture HomeStore provides these services to us free of charge, pick-ups and deliveries are scheduled around the routine routes of their trucks, normally within 48-72 hours.
